Vince Gilligan Discloses He Knows How Pluribus Will Conclude... At the Moment.

The creative mastermind did not foresee that Pluribus would become a cultural phenomenon. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he states. “It was unexpected the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

With the first season of the popular sci-fi show wrapping up—and a second season greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team opened up about the audience reaction and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Overwhelming Fan Response

Anyone might to get sidetracked by the rampant praise and fan theories regarding Pluribus. He is striving to ignore the noise.

“It feels like force fed hot fudge sundaes and being tickled to death,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I hear about it anecdotally, and that's on purpose. I have never Googled myself, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a rabbit hole I know I would fall into and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s no escaping the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to accept it graciously and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“It is not our goal to tailor anything,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not changed by online forums.”

“Better to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.

The Central Mystery: Does the showrunner See the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if the creative staff are not listening by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… sort of.

“There are some compelling concepts about where the show might end up,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to discard a solid concept for a more brilliant plan. This approach has served us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and we're in there,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Then again, one could always use the iconic TV endings?

“I want Carol to open her eyes with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus is streaming now on the streaming service.
